There is a very strong argument that Xbox Game Pass may be the best value in gaming. For about $10 per month you can download and play over 150 games, receive discounts if you decide to purchase an included, and the cherry on top is the fact you get to play Microsoft exclusive titles on the very day they are released. This is an incredible value that continues to grow. If it is one thing that Xbox Game Pass is missing, it is a great assortment of story driven games. That’s where the Telltale Games formula comes into play.
It was a sad day in gaming to see that Telltale Games would initiate massive layoffs and are possibly on the verge of completely closing their doors. As sad as that is, it does open the door for Microsoft to adapt the formula for Game Pass. The games from Telltale are great and each chapter of the stories keep you hanging on to the edge of your seat until the next episode is available. This model will keep gamers paying the monthly subscription fee for Game Pass so that they may continue an incredible story.
It would be good news to hear that during their current massive hiring spree that Microsoft takes on the 200 or so developers who lost their jobs over at Telltale Games and allow them to create stories that would grab the attention of gamers. A new engine and some great story lines will do wonders to help fill out the Game Pass line up. Let’s just hope the Xbox team is already making their move.
