The six year old game Star Trek Online is finally coming to the current generation of consoles. The developer Arc has had great success with the free-to-play Neverwinter on the Xbox One. It was a matter of time before another one of their games made it to both the PS4 and Xbox One.

For a fan of their past effort Neverwinter I can’t wait to get a chance to play Star Trek Online. The game has been a free-to-play MMORPG for the past six years. Star Trek Online for the pc has had two level cap increases, over 100,000 fan created missions and actual actors from past Star Trek shows. The Arc Games blog discussed some challenges that they had to overcome to bring the game to the consoles:
“Our first major task was to convert a PC game that takes nearly an entire keyboard to play into a game that plays well with a 12 button controller. We focused on getting the controls right before we began work in earnest on this project, because we knew the game had to be as tactical, fun, and accessible as the PC game that preceded it. A combination of radial menus and streamlining of some HUD elements created a game that is easily understood, instantly accessible, and incredibly fun to play.”
Star Trek Online will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this fall. If you interested in the game check out the Arc Games page by click this link here. If you have some interest in the game let us know in the comment sections below.
