Nintendo has revealed details for Splatoon 2’s second Splatfest since release. This event will take place during the first weekend in September.
“Flight versus Invisibility” will be the theme in North America and Europe. In North America, the event will last from midnight to midnight (EDT) starting on Saturday, September 2nd. The event will also last 24 hours in Europe where it starts at 3:00PM (BST) on September 2, 2017. Players in these regions can join a faction now in preparation for the war next weekend. Japan has been silent on the topic.
During Splatfests, the only competitive mode available is Turf War. Matchmaking will group teams based on the faction they chose to represent. Players must wear Splatfest tees during these events, though the scrubbing service offers a massive discount on these shirts. Each of these events also bring their own unique map that will only be available until the faction war is over.
After the event ends and the results are revealed, players will receive special sea slugs based on their performance. Players can exchange these slugs to add slots to their gear, eliminating the need to choose between fashion and function. All participants will get some, but those on the winning team will get more. The popular vote as well as the win rates in team and random match-ups determine which side gets the bonus loot.
