Fans of Rocket League have some great news to enjoy today. In an announcement on PlayStation Blog and the official Rocket League website, the developers at Psyonix have confirmed that Rocket League now supports full cross-play across all platforms! Gamers can now play on Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 together.
Here’s how you can enable cross-platform play:Â
With special thanks to all of our friends and colleagues at PlayStation, we are thrilled to announce that starting RIGHT NOW, Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program! Players on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types (i.e. Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes).
To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the “Main Menu,” select “Options” and then make sure the “Cross-Platform Play” box is checked in the “Gameplay” tab. And that’s all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world!
By playing with other gamers across different platforms, it should be quicker and easier than ever to find games of Rocket League to play.
As noted in the developer’s announcement, full cross-platform play has been highly requested for Rocket League since before the Xbox One X enhancements were announced. For those who are interested in cross-platform parties for voice chat, Psyonix is currently working on it and it will be available in the first update of 2019. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on that as information is released.
