Rise Of The Tomb Raider Capitalized On “The Lull Of Triple A Games On PC”

Superdata released their January 2016 report for game sales and reported that Rise of the Tomb Raider sold nearly 3 times the amount of digital copies that was sold on Xbox One in the firstĀ month when it launchedĀ on either platform. When Rise of the Tomb Raider launched on Xbox One, it launched the same day as Fallout 4 which, according to Superdata caused the game to have soft sales initially.

Rise of the Tomb Raider performed acceptably on Xbox One, reaching well over 1 Million copies in sales. Early reports place the Steam Sales tally for the game at 500 000 copies. This report only counts digital sales according to theirĀ data, so it’s unlikely that it may include physical sales, whichĀ could still be a major chunk on Consoles.

Square Enix haven’t released the official sales numbers for the game, and Microsoft is mum on sales numbers as well. But as far as estimates go, this shows that Rise of the Tomb Raider is a success, and when it launches on any other platforms, it could only build on this success.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is currently available on Xbox One and Windows 10.
