Resident Evil 7 Coming To Switch – As A Cloud Streamable Game

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 7 is headed to the Nintendo Switch but there’s a catch. This game will not be playable offline. You will have to stream the game to your Switch from the cloud. This edition of the game is titled Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version and will be released on May 24th in Japan. You download a 45MB file to your system from the eShop but the game is run on Capcom’s servers and streamed to you.

The news doesn’t stop there. You won’t even be able to buy this version of the game – at least no option for purchase has been announced yet. You can play the first fifteen minutes of the game for free but to progress further you have to buy a ticket for 2,000 yen (about $18 USD). That ticket will be good for 180 days. That ticket does include the Banned Footage Volume 1 and 2, End of Zoe and Not a Hero DLC.

You can already check out Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version on the Japanese eShop. There is no mention of an English option and at this point it is unclear if the game will come to the West.
