A Capcom UK official has stated that the Resident Evil 2 Remake is a full remake despite a recent investor report from the publisher calling the new title a “remaster”.
Capcom recently announced that the Resident Evil 2 Remake Project had been officially approved last August. The announcement pleased many fans but there are those who don’t agree due to the increase amount of “remastered” games rather than new material. The “remastered” title, as the new Resident Evil game had been branded, led fans to question the status of the remake.
This was cleared up via Twitter yesterday by Capcom UK’s Marketing Director, Stuart Turner, who had this to say, “Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster.”
Unlike the original Resident Evil Remastered that released this past January it appears that Capcom is rebuilding the second Resident Evil game from the ground up. This also differs from the upcoming Resident Evil 0 Remaster which will release in early 2016.
No official release window has been set for the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Resident Evil 2 takes place in the chaotic streets of Raccoon City that is infested by a zombie outbreak. The second installment in Capcom’s survival horror franchise features fan-favorite characters Claire Redfield, who is searching for her brother Chris, and Leon S Kennedy, a rookie cop on his first day.
