There’s been a lot of talk recently about Rare Replay coming to the Wii U after a tweet from Microsoft Studios. The tweet suggested that it could happen if Rare wanted it to happen; now obviously the person behind the Twitter page probably has no idea of whether it would happen or not, but it still sent Wii U owners into a frenzy. But alas, Rare has stated that they won’t be porting the game.
Lots of Qs about Wii U! But #RareReplay’s exclusive to Xbox One, and we’re hard at work on Sea of Thieves. Appreciate the enthusiasm though!

It would have been interesting to see the game come to Wii U since Rare originally started out as second party developer for Nintendo. A lot of the games on Rare Replay were made under this partnership, but perhaps their biggest series under Nintendo was the Donkey Kong Country series; Donkey Kong Country is a huge part of Rare’s history so it would’ve been neat to see it in the game along side their other classics. But alas, Nintendo owns the rights to the series and is still making games for it including last year’s critically acclaimed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
