Play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition By The End Of 2015 And Play The Entire Gears Saga For Free

The developers of Gears of War 4 hope you are excited about Gears of War 4 and its release next year. In fact, they are going to make it easy for players who are new to the Xbox family or the Gears of War franchise to try out the entire series before the fourth game launches. All you have to do is play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live before December 31st, 2015 and you will be able to access all of the previous Gears of War games via backwards compatibility when the feature launches this fall.

Backwards compatibility for Xbox One was announced at Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference with a selection of titles immediately playable on the Xbox Live Preview program. Microsoft claims over 100 Xbox 360 titles will be playable on Xbox One when the feature officially launches later this year.

Gears of War and Shadow Complex were added to the backwards compatibility list today and are playable by members who are in the preview program.

Backwards compatibility is proving to be an attractive incentive for upcoming games. Gamers who pre-order Fallout 4 will get a digital copy of Fallout 3 for free. Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege will include Rainbow Six: Vegas and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 for no additional cost. Adding Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and the Gears collection means purchasing these three games will allow the player to enjoy a whopping ten games. Not a bad deal by any means.
