Paratopic: Definitive Cut Is Coming to Steam

Paratopic is surreal, first-person horror game released earlier this year on itch.io. Developed by Arbitrary Metric, a studio comprised of three talented developers, Paratopic quickly garnered acclaim, as it’s one of the highest-rated paid horror games on itch.io. Today, the developers announced that Paratopic: Definitive Cut is coming to Steam.

Check out Paratopic: The Definitive Cut announcement trailer:

As an assassin prepares for her kill, a man is strong-armed into smuggling contraband VHS tapes over the border, and a young girl finds the rusted remnants of illicit industry deep in a dark forest.

This version of the game includes some additional gameplay that wasn’t included during the initial release. It’ll also be free for anyone who purchased the game on itch.io.

You can check out the Steam page here. Paratopic: Definitive Cut will release on September 6th, 2018.

For more information, here’s the synopsis on Steam:

  • A narrative, horror tinged adventure game that takes you on a journey through a cruel fever dream world.
  • Cutting between numerous detailed and varied vignettes, unravel how the stories of three separate characters intersect. Explore the detritus of forbidden industry, kill, drive through the night, find yourself in conversation with some very off-kilter individuals.
  • A leisurely playthrough should take forty five minutes give or take, with plenty more to discover in the detailed, grimey low polygon environments. Or speedrun it, if you’d prefer.
  • Over an hour of gorgeous dark ambient music is used to create our subtly dynamic soundscape. An anachronistic blend of modern and outdated production as glitches and textural pads meet synthesis & sampling akin to a haunted recollection of 90s Unreal Engine soundtracks.
