Overwatch Begins An Olympics Themed Event

Overwatch is still going strong, months after its release and it looks like Blizzard is about to add a little bit of spice to the game. Today Blizzard announced that there will be a special Olympics themed event that will last from now until August 22. Overwatch is a very multicultural game, so it only makes sense that the game’s characters get involved in the patriotic fun!

The event will see the release of limited edition Loot Box items. These items are all Olympic themed and include skins, victory poses, sprays, highlight intros and more; these items will only be available throughout this event, so you better get them now before they go away forever. Every loot box will contain atleast one Olympic themed item, so you won’t have to pay to get these goodies.

Blizzard is also launching a new game mode called Lúcioball. This new mode will have players on teams of 3 Lúcios playing a insane version of soccer.  Lúcio’s speed boost will only effect you in this game mode instead of your whole team.  Lúcio’s ultimate ability will also pull the ball towards him. This seems like the first person shooter version of Rocket League and it looks like a ton of fun. Play it while it lasts!

Blizzard also went on to confirm that this is their first seasonal event and there is more to come. They didn’t give any other details, but here’s hoping for special Halloween and Christmas events.

Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. You can read our review here if you still haven’t joined in on the fun.
