What’s up everybody and welcome to the Nintendo News Roundup. Did you miss any of the news regarding Nintendo this week? Well, look no further. Here you’ll find the important news, not so important news, and Nintendo things that are just news to me.
Nintendo may be working on VR after all
Many thought the Nintendo NX’s release date in March 2017 was an attempt to avoid the jam packed holiday releases this year, particularly the PlayStation VR (I did). Or it was a reactionary move after finding out how powerful the PlayStation Neo is supposed to be (I did). Turns out it’s kind of the latter. According to a source that spoke with digitimes.com they wrote:
Sources from the related upstream supply chain pointed out that the delay was because Nintendo wished to enhance the game console’s video-game/handheld-game-integrated gaming experience and add virtual reality (VR) function into the system to gain advantages in the upcoming video game and mobile game competitions.
Enhancing the integrated gaming experience can mean several things: how well the handheld and console work together, the way they work together (separately?), and the power of one or both. It’s good that Nintendo is finally paying attention to what the competition is doing. Hopefully it takes them in a direction that bring them back to being the Nintendo I grew up with.
However the most interesting thing about that statement is the addition of VR functionality. Hopefully it’s not some ham-fisted attempt. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Nintendo, as long as the controller has a screen, to see them make a Google cardboard/Samsung Galaxy Gear like attempt. Nintendo if that’s the plan, I implore you: don’t.

More Pokémon Sun and Moon details
Nintendo has released a new trailer giving more information about the highly anticipated Pokémon Sun and Moon. It provides more info on the new legendary Pokémon on their respective box cover, character names, and more. Check out the trailer below.
Nintendo showing more than Zelda at E3
Turns out Nintendo plans on showing more at E3 than previously announced. I guess they figured out only showing the new Legend of Zelda when you have other games coming out like, I don’t know…a new Pokémon, would be in their best interest. New Mario Kart 8 DLC may be coming
Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter account today tweeted the following:
Good things come to those who wait. #MK8
Accompanying the tweet was a picture of what looked to be Mario Kart 64 (guessing), but obviously not Mario Kart 8. This probably hinting that DLC is coming and it will most likely be a track/tracks from a previous game/games. This is of course me speculating as nothing has been confirmed. New month, new mythical Pokémon
This month’s mythical Pokémon is Manaphy. Manaphy is a water type Pokémon and is currently being distributed through the Nintendo Network. Manaphy is available from Jun 1-Jun 24 so get it while you can. You can check out Manaphy’s stats/abilities right here.
The Vans X Nintendo Collection available now
Nintendo and Vans join forces to remind everyone how great the 80’s were. Your favorite Nintendo characters are now plastered on all types of Vans apparel ranging from hats, shoes, shirts, and more. I have to admit some of it does look pretty awesome (not enough Zelda themed stuff though. Legend of Zelda slip-on, but no Authentic? C’mon Vans; be better). They are currently on sale so get them while you can right here.
New Tokyo Mirage trailer
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is back with another trailer. The trailer takes you into dungeons from the game and how to survive them. It’s also explains some of the enemy types and shows a few of the bosses you encounter. Check out the trailer below.
Splatoon software update
For all of you kids that like to be squids, or just still can’t get enough of the game, good news. Splatoon will be getting a new software update, version 2.8.0, and it will be available next week on Jun 8. The new update will include: New weapons, gear, and much more. You can see all the changes that are coming to the game right here.
Punch Club being ported to 3DS
Originally released on Steam earlier this year (and on mobile devices not too long ago), tinyBuild will be porting Lazy Bear Games’s indie punching sensation Punch Club to the Nintendo 3DS according to a recent post on Twitter! You can check out all of Ryan Silberman‘s article right here.

Nintendo holding back their potential?
It’s not news but if you want to check out a good opinion piece about Nintendo check out TiCGN’s very own Ryan Silberman‘s article. It talks about his love and disappointment with the house that Mario built. I think most of us have felt that way about Nintendo in recent years and it’s nice to see someone else’s perspective on it. Check it out right here. It’s a good read.
