Nintendo & Hot Wheels partner up to bring a new line of Mario Kart toys

Kids won’t have to settle their disputes over the best Mario Kart character through your television screen much longer. Now they will be able to stage their own racing circuits on your living room floor thanks to a new partnership between Nintendo and Mattel. This deal will bring a new line of Mario Kart themed Hot Wheeels vehicles and playsets.

The 1/64th scale vehicles seem to be nicely detailed and feature die-cast construction. You will be able to use them on the new Mario Kart branded playsets but will also work with existing Hot Wheels tracks. Most of your favorite characters like Mario and Bowser will be represented with their own toy.

There are a total of three Mario Kart playsets that will be available as well. These include:

  • Piranha Plant Slide Track Set
  • Thwomp Ruins Track Set
  • Hot Wheels Mario Kart Circuit Track Set
  • Matt Brutocao, the Senior Director of Global Brand Marketing for Hot Wheels commented on the new toy line. “Mario Kart and Hot Wheels are two of the most iconic brands in play, each with their own storied history and devoted fan base, so the combination of the two is something very special,” he said. ““Our new Hot Wheels Mario Kart line creates an exciting Mario Kart play experience, complete with fun characters, authentic details and the type of out-of-this-world racing challenges that are synonymous with Hot Wheels.”

The new Mario Kart should make their way to store shelves later this summer. You can get a sneak peek at the first wave of toys during San Diego Comic-Con this year along with an opportunity to purchase an exclusive “Metal Mario” vehicle.
