EA Access subscribers can download and play NHL 16 for free starting today according to a post on the Electronic Arts website. This early access version lets you play the game for up to 10 hours before the game releases and your progress, achievements and any items you may have been unlocked will carry over to the full game. As with all other EA Access games you will receive a 10% discount should you choose to buy NHL 16 or Hockey Ultimate Team packs from the Xbox Live store.

EA Access is now in its second year and the service has so far remained exclusive on Xbox One. For $5 per month or $30 per year subscribers can play EA games before they are officially released and enjoy unlimited play time with a selection of games from the Vault. These titles range from older sports titles like Madden 15 to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and even Dragon Age: Inquisition. After the announcement of backwards compatibility for Xbox One EA has told fans they are investigating the possibility of adding Xbox 2360 titles to the Vault.
