At E3 2018, three distinct games in the Gears of War universe were announced: Gears 5, the next big chapter in the story and the next mainline Gears game, Gears POP!, a mobile spinoff title, and Gears Tactics, a strategy game similar to XCOM. While this announcement was exciting, there was confusion when the game was announced as “Windows 10 exclusive” as this seemingly confirmed the game wouldn’t release on Xbox. That appears to have changed, as a new update on the official Razer website now has Gears Tactics listed as an Xbox One game, on the page with different Xbox games confirmed to have mouse and keyboard support.
Gears Tactics does not currently have a release date (or even a release window) but we’ll be sure to share more information as it becomes available. Gears Tactics is being developed primarily by Splash Damage, a studio that has supported The Coalition in the development of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 4 and the upcoming Gears 5.
Some people were disappointed when Gears Tactics was initially announced as a Windows 10 exclusive, so this should come as reassurance. Interestingly enough, Gears 5 and Sea of Thieves were also listed as supporting keyboard and mouse support.
