A new app for this year’s NFL season was showcased today by Larry Hyrb, otherwise known as Major Nelson along with Jeff Tran (Director of Sports Marketing for Microsoft). The app is free to download for all Xbox Live members and is available right now. Microsoft has been hard at work to make the NFL app more powerful and flexible than ever and this year they are introducing some great new features. The favorite features from last year are still here as well such as snapping score updates and fantasy football highlights to your screen and view replays.
The most impressive addition to the app comes from the players themselves, more specifically, their uniforms. Every NFL player will have a microchip inserted into their shoulder pads. The chip will allow every player to be tracked along with useful information such as their speed and precise location on the gridiron. You will even be able to create interactive maps of the play field and break down every play as it happens. This feature is called Next Gen Stats and you can even make your own predictions for a chance to win autographed NFL memorabilia or if you’re very, very lucky- tickets to the Super Bowl. This season marks the 50th anniversary for the NFL and this app can help to make the memories even more special.
