Jump Force- TICGN

My 3 Biggest Concerns For Jump Force

With all of the latest news revolving Jump Force such as the character creation tools or the new characters added to the game, I’ve become more skeptical about it. Don’t get me wrong, I have been more excited for the game since its announcement at Microsoft’s E3 presentation. I just have a number of concerns about the game. Let’s get to the bottom of this.

Character Creation

Although a nice feature to have, there are some big red flags with the character creation feature. For instance, how deep will the character creation options go? Will we be limited to minor costume changes with a base selection of move sets? If so, what’s really the point in having it? Character creation is cool and all, but no matter how you look at it this option is really needed. This has been a trend with anime games lately with the latest being Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker.

The feature as a whole is getting a bit stale – in my opinion. My experience with character creation in other games leads me to believe it’s either the developer puts so much time into the feature which takes away from other things such as gameplay or overall content or it is done poorly just to entice people to buy the game.

Roster

My next biggest concern is the number of characters in the game. At this point we know of 20 playable characters so far. That’s a decent size but it feels like we could have a lot more in a game that pulls characters from several different anime franchises. Bandai Namco has said that more characters are on the way with two major events that they have left being Jump Festa and New York Comic-Con. It is entirely possible that new characters will be announced at those two events but if not, time is beginning to run out.

The game releases in February and we do know there will be 9 characters appearing in DLC packs. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will get all of the characters that anime fans would want to see if it wasn’t for the character creation mentioned above.

Online Play

Another worry and it’s one I think all gamers can agree with – anime games tend to have horrible online stability at launch and in some cases the online play is poor for the duration of the game’s life cycle. Now with the added function of Avatars and lobbies, I fear even with the upcoming beta it’s going to be a train wreck. Will we get a spectator mode? Or maybe an endless lobby like in the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series. I would like to have these key features in the game to maintain its longevity.

I could be completely wrong and over reacting but given the history of every anime game that has released so far it seems pretty likely that all of this will become a reality. Before you go, take a look at my character Wishlist for the Jump Force. Also, if you haven’t signed up for the beta you can do so here. And if you have any concerns about the game please let me know in the comment section below.
