Nearly three years ago gamers raised their eyebrows when Microsoft announced that they would be reviving Killer Instinct- a franchise that had been dormant for dormant for over fifteen years. Furthermore, the new Killer Instinct was going to feature an unusual distribution system in which one character would be free to play and gamers could choose to buy an entire season or just a single character. They could even play with a rotating roster of free characters if they wanted to.
When the Xbox One launched many gamers realized that Killer Instinct was actually a damn good game. In season 2 the game became something truly special and Killer Instinct began to gain some respect within the fighting game community and tournaments.
Fast forward to 2016 and the world’s largest fighting game tournament has announced that Killer Instinct will again be part of the event’s lineup. Other games that will be at this year’s tournament include Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Melee, Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd, Mortal Kombat X, Tekken 7 and the venerable Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Evo 2016 will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center July 15th through July 17th. You can find more information on the Evo website.
I dearly hope that someone will use the lovely Hisako this year.
