Limbitless and 343 Collaborate For Halo Themed Prosthetic’s For Kids

2018 has been a huge step forward in accessibility for video games, a huge push behind this has been Xbox. The Xbox adaptive controller has been a huge focus and talking point about accessibility in video games. However, it appears Xbox has interest in accessibility outside of just the video game space. Today, in a blog post from 343 Industries, the developers behind the Halo franchise have announced an awesome new collaboration. In collaboration with Limbitless Solutions who if you are not familiar with their work, the company creates 3D printed prosthetics for kids with unique themes. This partnership will be bringing a variety of Halo-themed prosthetics to the already stacked lineup of “bionic arms” the company produces.

Halo Themed “Bionic Arm”

The absolute best part about this partnership is that Limbitless Solutions provides these arms free of charge to applicant families and children. Through innovative design, 3D printing and cost-effective measures, these bionic arms cost a fraction of the standard prosthetic replacement limbs. In the 343 blog post it was detailed why this partnership was so important to both Limbitless and 343 Industries.

“With all that firmly in mind, we’re incredibly honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with Limbitless Solutions to offer a unique bit of Halo flavor in our shared goal of inspiring heroes. Beginning in 2019, Limbitless will add two special Halo-themed options to their already-amazing lineup of designs for their 3D-printed Bionic Arms.”

Creating cost-effective, innovative and “cool” prosthetics for children is a great cause. It is a long road to normalizing disabilities but this partnership is a great step forward in helping kids cope with the struggle of disability. With a themed prosthetic that helps the child feel better about it, and helps out the families with the zero-cost of prosthetic. I tip my hat to both parties involved, and I only hope we see more partnerships like this in the future.
