After only eight months, Kudo Tsunoda has left Microsoft Studios for and is now the Vice President of the Windows App Studios. During his time at Microsoft Studios, Tsunoda oversaw the activities of multiple first party studios including Rare.
Tsunoda was one of the main minds behind the development of the original Kinect. Tsunoda’s promotion to one of the heads of Microsoft Studios worried a decent amount of fans because they feared he would push for casual games like the Kinect had; his new promotion seems like it’s right up his alley. Tsunoda will work on apps across all of Microsoft’s products including HoloLens.
Filling in Tsunoda’s place are Hanno Lemke and Shannon Loftis who will report directly to Xbox president, Phil Spencer. These two have previously been working at Microsoft Studios and have been overseeing the production of Xbox One’s various exclusives so it seems like we’re in good hands.
