Kingdom Hearts 3 Will Be DEAD ON ARRIVAL On Xbox One And Square Enix Is Partially To Blame!

Well it looks like a Kingdom Hearts game will be arriving on a Xbox platform after all. Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to arrive on PS4 & Xbox One sometime in 2018. The problem is some Xbox gamers are left asking, WHAT IN THE HELL IS KINGDOM HEARTS? Granted, there a a lot of Xbox gamers who have owned a PlayStation console in the past and currently, so those gamers obviously know what the series is about. The mainline issue is that the THIRD iteration of a franchise is making its FIRST appearance on a platform.

The prediction I’m making is not hard to fathom. Kingdom Hearts 3 will sell poorly on the Xbox One. There are a few reasons for this. One reason, which people will argue is the main reason, is that the few Japanese games that are on the Xbox One do not sell very well. This has been an ongoing issue this entire generation. Japanese games sell best on a Japanese platform, the PlayStation 4. Just recently, Phil Spencer made a trip to Japan in an attempt the strengthen their relationship with Japanese developers to have more of those games come to the platform. Time will tell if that happens and if the Xbox fan base will welcome those games and support them as they did during the Xbox 360 era.

Another reason, which I believe is the biggest issue, is that Square Enix is waiting so long to bring the franchise to Xbox. It’s great that those who do not own a PlayStation console can enjoy this game, but the previous 2 iterations need to be on the Xbox Platform. This move by Square Enix is a very confusing one. In my opinion, if you want this game to succeed on Xbox you must give those gamers a reason to buy the game. Not too long ago, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX released on the PS4. Would it not have been better to release those games on Xbox as well knowing you are releasing part 3 on the platform? Director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that those games may come to Xbox AFTER Kingdom Hearts 3 is released. That makes absolutely zero sense at all.  Square Enix must take some heat IF this game sells poorly on Xbox.
