Jumanji Stays on top Against Den of Thieves and 12 Strong

Jumanji barely took the top spot this weekend as Den of Thieves and 12 Strong came gunning hard for number one at the box office. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has brought in over $767 million worldwide. It looks like I was wrong when I said that this movie will barely make $800 million. It should be no problem for this movie to gross more than that even with all the competition.

12 Strong and Den of Thieves both made it into the top three this weekend. 12 Strong is the tale of the Horse Soldiers that went into Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks. The movie is based off the non-fiction book, Horse Soldiers. Den of Thieves is a story about a group of Elite LA county sheriffs who look to stop a group from robbing the Federal Reserve Bank in Los Angeles. Both movies have performed better then expected. Usually January is the month that new movies are sent to die. So far this year that has not been the case. Star Wars: The Last Jedi crossed $600 million domestically, causing the film to drop to number eight as it has grossed $1.2 billion world wide.

Weekend Top Five

5. The Greatest Showman $11 million

4. The Post $12 million

3. Den of Thieves $15 million

2. 12 Strong $16.5 million

1. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle $20 million

Next weekend, Maze Runner: The Death Cure will finally get released. After the main actor Dylan O’Brien was hurt filming this movie, it took some extra time for the film to be completed. Hostiles will also be coming out next weekend. Now February is coming in fast and we are only a few weeks away until Black Panther. So I’m going to included another trailer that we have all seen. Just enjoy it.
