Invisible Man defeats Sonic at the weekend box office

This past weekend The Invisible Man took the top spot from Sonic the Hedgehog. The Universal horror movie brought in an expected $29 million in its first weekend. This movie is sitting at $49 million worldwide. While Sonic the Hedgehog is sitting at $265 million worldwide. These worldwide totals won’t be climbing much due to the fact that the Chinese release for Sonic has been postponed due to the COVID-19 virus.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising had a great weekend with a healthy opening. The movie brought in $5.1 million. Currently, it’s sitting at number four at the box office. Birds of Prey is slowing down at the theaters as it grossed $4.1 million. I took my teenage daughter and niece to watch this movie, it was better than I had expected.

Weekend Top Three

3. The Call of the Wild $13 million

2. Sonic the Hedgehog $16 million

1. The Invisible Man $29 million

Next weekend look for a large group of movies to be released. Emma, First Cow, The Way Back, and the Pixar movie Onward will be coming next weekend. Look for Onward to easily take the top spot as Sonic the Hedgehog closes in on $300 million worldwide. The numbers will not be getting better as this virus slowly causing more panic around the world. In fact, we shouldn’t even really care about those numbers, we should only care about the people affected by the disease. Have a great week!
