Halo Wars 2 Mod Makes the Flood Playable

Halo Wars 2 Mod Makes the Flood Playable, 343 Industries Says the Mod Could Come to the Full Game

Update:

The original video is no longer available, so I’ve posted a video here from YouTuber The Vengeful ‘Vadam that goes over the details of Blackandfan’s mod.

Halo Wars 2 released on Xbox One and Windows 10 on February 21st, 2017. Since then, it’s received several new Leader packs, additional campaign missions and even a full expansion. Titled Awakening the Nightmare, this expansion brought back the infamous Flood as an enemy in both a new campaign and the new Firefight mode. While this expansion was met with praise, many Halo Wars 2 fans (myself included) still yearn for the ability to control the ancient parasite on the battlefield.

Well, that might yet be possible, as a new Halo Wars 2 mod makes the Flood playable, at least to a degree. YouTube user Blackandfan posted some videos showing off test footage of a mod that allows players to control the Flood in Halo Wars 2. While it’s nowhere near done, the results so far are impressive.

Check out footage of the mod below:

Really Good Gaming made a video covering the mod and asked Tyler Davis, Community Support and Engagement Coordinator at 343 Industries, about whether or not the mod could come to the full game. He responded by saying that “There’s a chance any mod can make it into the retail game. Halo Wars 2 is in this fun place where the community is helping to drive its future – through content creation, through streaming, through mods and through building the community.”

This is definitely a cool mod in progress and it’s interesting to see 343 Industries open to community-driven content for the game. While Halo Wars 2 may have not sold insanely well, its community remains passionate. Hopefully we’ll have more developments on this to report in the near future. If you’d like to see the Flood playable in Halo Wars 2 without mods, you can (respectfully) leave feedback right here.
