This weekend we saw Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 release domestically. The move has already been out in certain foreign markets with an impressive $100 million debut. Now in the United States the movie topped the box office with an estimated $145 million in opening weekend sales. Since it’s opening last week the movie is now in the 5th spot for 2017 movies with a total of $427 million.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 takes place several months after the first movie. In this sequel we learn more about Peter Quill’s father. I haven’t seen the movie at the time of writing this so I won’t really be going into detail since it would spoil the experience for myself. I plan on seeing it this afternoon with some family. The reviews though for this movie have been great. It is currently sitting at 82% Certified on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the next two weeks the competition for your hard earned cash will definitely increase. King Arthur and Snatched will be coming out next weekend on the 12th. Following that weekend is one of my favorite franchises, Alien: Covenant on May 19th. The fourth film based on Diary of a Wimpy Kid will be releasing that weekend along with Everything, Everything. Make sure you stay in the theater for the five after credit scenes that come with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Please check out some of the recent trailers that have come out. Dark Tower, Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk, and The Big Sick.
