The idea of streaming console quality video games to a remote client is still going through growing pains but Google is ready to move forward with plans to enter the AAA gaming industry. The tech giant has been quietly working on something called Project Stream for a long time now in an effort to make streaming video games just as viable as music, movies and television shows.
In order to test the capacity of their streaming service, Google has teamed up with Ubisoft to offer a select group of players a chance to stream the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey to Chrome browsers on a desktop or laptop computer. The test will begin on October 5th and a small number of lucky gamers will get to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey for free for the duration of the experiment.
All you will need for the test are a controller (a keyboard and mouse will work too), a computer running the Chrome browser and an internet connection with a download speed of 25 mbps. To apply for the test program you must be at least 17 years old and live within the United States.
