One of the most anticipated games of Xbox’s lineup this year is Gears 5 from the Coalition. Fans have been itching to see more of the game ever since the reveal of the new game mode Escape at Xbox’s 2019 E3 briefing. Now fans won’t have long to wait long to get their hands on Gears 5, on July 19th, 2019 there will be a multiplayer technical test as announced by the developers.
How do I access the technical test?Â
In order to gain access, you simply must have the game pre-ordered on either Xbox One, or Windows 10 (no current information in regards to whether Steam pre-orders will get you access or not). As an added bonus, if you are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can access the technical test without a pre-order.
What modes will be available?Â
There will be 3 multiplayer modes and 2 new maps for players to experience. Arcade mode promises fast-paced Gears action aiming to be more approachable for new players. Escalation mode returns which have been a long time staple of the Gears franchise. Then finally King of The Hill makes its return in one of the longest-running game modes in shooters. In a first for the series, there will be two additional modes in the technical test as well. The first is Bootcamp which is designed for players of all skill levels to help learn some of the new mechanics and features in Gears 5. The second is “Tour Of Duty” which will have you unlocking medals that will lead to unlocking exclusive skins only available in the technical test.
When will the technical test start and finish?Â
There will be 2 separate technical tests for Gears 5. The first starts on July 19th at 10 am PDT and will end July 22nd at 10 am PDT. There will then be a second technical test starting from July 26th at 10 am PDT and will wrap up on July 29th at 10 am PDT. If you are itching to dive into the technical test as soon as it’s available, you can pre-load it on July 17th ahead of the first technical test. The download will be 15 GBs on both PC and Xbox One.
