When the Lionhead Studios social media coordinator was asked whether or not Fable Legends will land on Steam when the game launches, they iterated that the game will launch on Windows 10, but not on Steam.
When Microsoft announced that Fable Legends was coming to Xbox One and PC, they specifically used the term ‘Windows 10 and Xbox One Exclusive’. Whenever those games launch, they will indeed go to PC, but will be sold exclusively through the Windows 10 Store and will have access to Xbox Live through the Xbox App on Windows 10. This keeps the entire gaming universe within one single platform and will ensure that there are no issues when connecting and playing together. In the case of Gears of War, the game will require DirectX 12 which is not available on any other OS.
Microsoft also announced other titles that will be multiplatform Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusives, such as Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Gigantic. The latter of which will start their open beta soon. Indie games such as Cuphead will also be Windows 10 and Xbox exclusive, which will require you to install and use Windows 10.
This is good news for Microsoft and gamers, especially for those hoping to get to play their games on both platforms with Crossbuy.
Fable Legends’ Release date is currently unknown, but you can play Gears of War Ultimate Edition now on Xbox One for $39.99.
