Two characters from Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Updates Character Creation Gender Options

After Cyberpunk 2077 has faced accusations of transphobia for a questionable ad, the developers of the game have updated the in-game character creator. The game’s developer, CD Projekt, has said in an interview with PCGamer that they want the game to be inclusive. Because of this, they have removed the option of choosing to play a male or female character. Now, players can mix and match body types with voices. This will let gamers create whatever kind of character they want.

Past criticisms have included that enforcing a strict gender binary on players goes against the core themes of cyberpunk. The genre tends to focus on social upheaval, corruption, and life under oppressive mega-corporations. CD Projekt has paid attention to what gamers had to say on this matter and updated Cyberpunk 2077 to meet their wants. As a result,  players now will be able to fully create the characters they envisioned playing in this highly-anticipated game.
