Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 Release Date Has Possibly Been Pushed Back?

Crackdown 3’s release date has changed a few times since its 2014 E3 announcement which teased massive multiplayer destruction. Originally slated for 2017 release date, and then was delayed to a Spring 2018 window, and then pushed one more time to a February 22nd, 2019 release date most recently.  It has been no secret the development of Crackdown 3 has been filled with roadblocks with the loss of series co-creator David Jones to Epic Games, it has certainly been a rocky ride for Crackdown 3. Now it appears that Crackdown 3 will be getting a slight date push back perhaps announced in the near future. Crackdown 3 is set to release on February 22nd, which has quickly become a fully stacked date in the industry. With such heavy hitters as Metro Exodus, Days Gone, Anthem, and Crackdown 3 all set to release on February 22nd its certainly a stacked line up. It appears Microsoft may push Crackdown 3 back to a later date in February, as currently in the Microsoft Store it is listed for a February 28th release date.

While a week delay is not that huge of a deal, this move makes sense for a few reasons. Crackdown 3 has a very troubling public image due to delays and a disastrous showing at Comic-con, so stacking it up against massive blockbusters would truly be a mistake. Also with it releasing on the last day of February this perfectly suits Xbox’s Game pass model as the game will most likely be included as one of the “March” game pass titles. With all this information in mind, this small delay makes sense, and we will hopefully see more of Crackdown 3 at Xbox’s X018 event in November. Here’s to hoping Crackdown 3 smashes expectations and manages to succeed even with its troubling development cycle.
