DC Universe has given us a brief reveal of the newest iteration of the cult classic hero Swamp Thing via their official Twitter account. There were no new details about the series but it finally gives us a look at ol’ Swampy in all of his mucky glory. Check out the tweet for yourself below:

As cool as this reveal may be, we have to wonder if this move is damage control on the part of DC Universe. It has recently been reported that Warner Bros. Television has slashed their order from thirteen episodes for season one to merely ten episodes. It seems that WarnerMedia is developing their own streaming platform to compete with the likes of competitors such as the upcoming Disney+. The fine folks over at Warner Bros. consider their content based on DC Comics tobe highly valuable and want to include it on their streaming platform. This has caused worried fans to wonder about the future of DC Universe – a service already launched that exclusively offers streaming of movies and television shows based on DC Comics. Neither company has commented on the matter as of this writing. I feel that whatever may happen is outside of the average fan’s control and nobody should let what may happen in the future impact their enjoyment of this new show.
The new Swamp Thing series is set to be released on May 31st.
