Variety has reported that Black Panther has crossed the billion mark in less then a month. It took the movie only 26 days to get to that all-important number. It is only the 33rd movie to ever gross that much, and it’s actually one of five Marvel movies that has reached a billion in ticket sales.
Both Avengers movies, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War are the other Marvel movies that have grossed this impressive number. Black Panther was boosted with a strong opening in China with a first day of $20 million. Some of the box office estimates show that A Wrinkle in Time might actually topple the movie from being number one this weekend. It looks like you will just have to wait until tomorrow when we publish my weekly box office recap article.
In other Marvel news, the second season of Jessica Jones is out on Netflix. Avengers: Infinity War is still coming out in April. We also have an announcement trailer for the second season of Luke Cage. If you missed out on seeing Thor: Ragnarok, it is out now on DVD and Blu-ray. Like I have said before, this is really the year for Marvel in movies and tv.
