The box office recap that I usually write is done for the time being. With the outbreak of COVID-19 shutting down theaters and causing many people including myself to be forced to stay home. Since we can’t go to a theater to watch a movie many studios are embracing the digital release. Some like Disney are pushing back those bigger movies, hoping to make some money back. These theatrical releases are available now in your home.
- Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Frozen II (Disney+), Onward, The Invisible Man, Emma, The Hunt
Viewers will be able to watch these movies listed above on just about every service that sells movies. Frozen II was actually already available, Disney was kind enough to just release it 3 months early on their streaming service. Starting on March 24th you will be able to watch these movies. Bloodshot was in the theaters for one week when everything was starting to shut down. The Way Back, Birds of Prey, and The Gentlemen will be available on that day as well.
Starting on March 31st you can watch these two movies.
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Bad Boys for Life
April 10th
- Trolls World Tour
Expect plenty of more movies to be released in a digital format. I’m hoping that The New Mutants gets released soon. That movie has been postponed multiple times, it was originally going to be released on April 3rd. The Lovebirds will soon be on Netflix, this Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani comedy was also going to be released on April 3rd. During this time just stay home. It will help save someone’s life.
