Today’s Nintendo Direct Mini started things off with a bang by announcing The World Ends With You: Final Remix for Nintendo Switch.
For those of you who did not experience the glory of The World Ends With You way back on the Nintendo DS, it’s a bizarre little Action-RPG set in modern Tokyo, specifically the Shibuya district. The game puts you in the role of Nekku, a young man with no memories who finds himself in a strange game that threatens the very existence of the participants. One of the more interesting aspects of the game was how ever changing fashion trends could influence your effectiveness in combat. If you go into battle wearing a brand that is favored in that area you will find that your abilities are buffed. Conversely, if that brand is not in fashion at the moment then your effectiveness is diminished.
The dual-screen combat from the DS version is gone for obvious reasons but Final Remix does offer JoyCon support as well as traditional touchscreen controls. An all new scenario which ties directly to the story will also be included.
No release date was given but The World Ends With You: Final Remix should be out sometime in 2018.
