Rumors continue to swirl about a possible upgraded version of the Xbox One Elite controller. Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott revealed that the new controller may come with a case that acts as a charger for the device’s internal battery. This effectively means that the new Elite controller will charge itself while in its carrying case.
The rest of Thurrott’s article is a rundown of the details we brought to you yesterday but he does note that development of the controller is well into its development cycle.
Thurrott states that he wouldn’t be surprised if the new Elite controller is announced during the E3 2018 press conference and there is precedent for that – the original Elite controller was announced during Microsoft’s E3 2015 conference.
The new controller is thought to boast a number of improvements such as Bluetooth with Windows 10 devices, 3-position hair trigger switches and increased travel for the back paddles. If the case does indeed act as a charger then it is probable that an internal battery has been added as well.
