Venom Continues to Dominate the Box Office

Venom took the top spot this weekend for a second time. The movie grossed a healthy estimated $35.7 million this past weekend. That brings the domestic total to $142 million and the world-wide total is sitting at $378 million. At this pace Venom could gross over $500 million. That should more then guarantee a sequel and also help make any new Spider-verse movies by Sony.

The three movies that came out this weekend just couldn’t muster enough money to take the top spot. First Man, Goosebumps 2, and Bad Times At The El Royale all grossed under $20 million. A Star is Born stayed in the second spot this weekend as it grossed $28 million. If you click the link above you can read our review for the film Bad Times At The El Royale. The movie only grossed $7.2 million this weekend.

Weekend Top Five

5. Smallfoot $9.3 million

4. Goosebumps 2 $16.2 million

3. First Man $16.5 million

2. A Star is Born $28 million

1. Venom $35.7 million

Next weekend we may see the same thing. Halloween is the only movie to open up in a large number of theaters. That means Venom and A Star is Born could easily take the top spot if that horror movie doesn’t perform. The World War 2 horror film Overlord is coming out next month. That movie is looking pretty good for fans who wanted a Wolfenstein-like movie. The Fox/Disney merger is also coming to an end soon. Could this finally give fans the first family and the X-Men in the MCU? Only Kevin Fiege knows the truth.
