This weekend was an extremely close race between three movies. American Made, It, and Kingsman: Golden Circle all made roughly $17 million this weekend. Only one movie made just a little more than the others.
In a rough estimate, It seems to have made $17,310,000 this weekend. American Made fell short by $294,000. The final movie, Kingsman: Golden Circle, came in at just $17 million. Now these numbers are just estimates at this time. September was a fantastic month compared to last summer. People just didn’t go to the movies in August. Right now It has passed the $500 million worldwide mark; the film has a chance to end well over $600 million at the end of its theater run. The other movie to have a wide release this past weekend flopped. The remake of Flatliners failed to start the Halloween movie season with any real spark.
Weekend Top Five
5. Flatliners $6.7 million
4. The Lego Ninjago Movie $12 million
3. Kingsman: Golden Circle $17 million
2. American Made $17 million
1. It $17.3 million
With Fall fully in swing it is time to enjoy the cooler weather and hopefully some great movies. The long-awaited sequel to Blade Runner will be coming to a theater near you this weekend. Blade Runner 2049 features Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, and Ryan Gosling. The Mountain Between Us and a new My Little Pony movie also come out. We are just about a month away until Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3rd. Now in the world of trailers I’ll just give you a few. The new Father Figures comedy featuring Ed Helms and Owen Wilson looks hilarious. At some point the world wants me to feel old, here is the Starship Troopers 20th anniversary trailer. Or even better we have the 30th anniversary of Predator trailer as well. As for next weekend I’m throwing my pick to be number one behind the new Blade Runner movie. It is time we had a great sci-fi movie in the top spot.
