Rise of the Tomb Raider gameplay

Fans of adventuring in ancient tombs should be happy right now, as a new gameplay demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider was shown off at Gamescom.

The demo began by showing off the new perks system in the game, stating that it can help players have very different experiences from other players based on what they choose to upgrade. The demo then proceeded to go into a lengthy stealth segment. The segment featured various new gameplay elements that were not in the previous game; these elements included swimming/water takedowns, throwing cans to distract enemies, tree climbing and new types of arrows that helped with being stealthy.

Lara Croft then shot an explosive arrow at an enemy, which caused the gameplay to go into an action piece. Lara used what appears to be a new shotgun and an AK-47 on enemies. The demo ended with Lara running into a hefty, flamethrower wielding bad guy.

Crystal Dynamics then showed off a brief trailer showcasing all of the tombs that will be in the game. The tombs look much more intricate and challenging than the tombs in 2013’s Tomb Raider. Lara has to scale ancient ruins, squeeze her way through caves and swim around dead bodies to claim her prizes.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to release on November 10, 2015 on Xbox One and sometime in 2016 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
