Rampage Destroys the Competition This Weekend

This weekend, we had one of the best reviewed video game adaption films to take the top spot at the box office. I know most fans would have thought a movie like Tomb Raider had the strength to do it. No, it was Dwayne Johnson and the movie Rampage.

Rampage is based on that video game you played years ago. Remember that one with the giants creatures attacking buildings and each other? It has grossed $34.5 million this weekend. A Quiet Place grossed $32 million bringing its domestic total to $99 million and the world-wide total to $151 million. Ready Player One dropped down to fourth with $11.2 million and the comedy Blockers is sitting at fifth with $10.2 million. The other horror movie to be released in the past two weeks, Truth or Dare, grossed $19 million this weekend.

Weekend Top Five

5. Blockers $10.2 million

4. Ready Player One $11.2 million

3. Truth or Dare $19 million

2. A Quiet Place $32 million

1. Rampage $34.5 million

I Feel Pretty and Super Troopers 2 come out next weekend. One week before the Marvel juggernaut, Avengers: Infinity War. That movie is expected to have a seriously huge opening, likely grossing about the same or more than what Black Panther has made. Deadpool 2 is coming out on May 18th, so it’s safe to say superhero movies will own this year’s box office. I see that for next weekend the movie Super Troopers 2 should be in the top three.
