Among all the game releases throughout this week, we’ve got a nice surprise announcement that sees Paradox Interactive and Microsoft team up to bring mods to console. With a new program called called Paradox Mods, Microsoft and Paradox Interactive have allowed the Xbox One version of games like Surviving Mars to receive mod support. It will be an open modding platform that allows user-created mods to be distributed to multiple platforms.
To start this all off, Surviving Mars is the first game available to try on Xbox One for mods, boasting over 99 for the one game alone. Modders can share their works across both PC and Xbox using the Paradox Launcher, or the GOG storefront. The support for these games will continue to grow over time, with Stellaris and Cities Skylines following closely behind Surviving Mars. You can find the full lay down of the details and the website right here! Paradox Plaza
Bethesda Game Studios has supported modded versions of their games on console since Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition released back in 2015 and 2016 respectively. With this new push from Paradox Interactive and Microsoft, hopefully we will continue to see more developers push support for mods.
