Overkill’s the Walking Dead Adaptation Delayed Until 2017

Publisher Starbreeze, who owns Overkill, announced that Overkill’s the Walking Dead adaptation game will be delayed to the second half of 2017 instead of sometime in 2016.

Although it may seem like bad news to die hard zombie lovers and the Walking dead fans, this may not be the case. According to Starbreeze, that a big investment from a Korean game company, Smilegate, will allow Overkill to expand the game. This means that it can launch the game in the Asian and western markets simultaneously.

Overkill’s the Walking Dead will be first person, have online co-op and take place in a “bigger world than Payday currently encompasses”. Even though Overkill hasn’t revealed much, we do know that it will be based on the original graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman and not the AMC TV series.

If you have doubts on Overkill’s take on the Walking Dead; The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, which is also a first person shooter, received a 1.5/5 on Metacritic and a 4.5/10 on IGN.com, but Telltale’s the Walking Dead Season 1, although an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure game, received a 4.5/5 on Metacritic, 9.3/10 on IGN.com and a 5/5 on Common Sense Media. Take these ratings as you may, it all depends on how Overkill executes their vision on the franchise.
