NieR: Automata Has Crossed 3.5 Million Shipments and Digital Sales

Developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, NieR: Automata is the sequel to a spin-off of the Drakengard franchise. Recently, the Japanese Twitter account for NieR: Automata has confirmed some pretty incredible news: NieR: Automata has crossed 3.5 million shipments and digital sales. The announcement confirmed the number and thanked players for their support of the game.

You can read the announcement (in Japanese) below:

The main NieR: Automata Twitter account also confirmed the news:

Game Director Yoko Taro also took to Twitter in celebration of the news, saying “Thank you everyone. Our team have to say thank you to so so so many supporters. Sorry about my poor English. But yeah, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! :)”

It’s great to see the game getting this kind of success. With this kind of leap in sales over the original NieR (which never hit 1 million sold) it’s hard to imagine the series won’t be continuing.

NieR: Automata initially released on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017, before an Xbox One port called NieR: Automata Become as Gods Edition released earlier in 2018. 2B, the main character of the game, has been announced as a guest fighter in Soulcalibur VI. For more information on the game, you can read our review of the Xbox One port right here.
