The Witcher has become the most in-demand TV show in the world

The fine folks over at CDProjekt Red and their fans must be excited about the phenomenal success of Netflix exclusive series The Witcher. The show has managed to trump Disney’s The Mandolorian as the most in-demand TV show in the world according to a report by Parrot Analytics.

The Witcher TV series saw approximately 127 million “demand expressions” in the United States the week of December 22nd to December 28th while The Mandolorian generated about 115 million demand expressions in the same market. At this time we do not know how many demand expressions were generated by The Witcher worldwide but Parrot Analytics assures us that the Netflix exclusive series was the most in-demand TV show in the entire world.

Parrot Analytics uses demand expressions to determine viewership, engagement and also desire for television shows from all over the world.

The Mandolorian, a show that is only available on Disney+, had previously taken the top spot from Stranger Things – another popular show from Netflix which dominated the charts at Parrot Analytics for 21 consecutive weeks.

Netflix was quick to boast about the show’s success but declined to release actual viewership numbers. Interestingly enough, the show has been panned by critics even while being embraced by viewers. As of this writing, The Witcher has a rating of 53% on aggregate site Metacritic. However, the user score for the show is considerably higher at 78%.

Henry Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, a slayer of monsters who is available for hire to those who can afford him. The series was released in the United States on December 20th.
