New Zealander Quits His Job To Become A Full Time Pokémon Go Hunter

A New Zealander by the name of Tom Currie has discovered his true dream as a Pokémon Go hunter. Only 24 years of age and he’s already setting out to explore every part of New Zealand to complete his goal. What is that goal you might ask? To capture all 151 Pokémon  that is already released on the game. Currie already has 90, so he has definitely gotten to a great start. He prepares for his adventure by equipping a flask full of coffee and storing his rain jacket in his bag for coming rain, hail, or snow. From The Guardian, “Currie has booked 20 bus trips around New Zealand and, in less than a week, has already visited six South Island towns – and caught Pokémon at every stop.”

“I wanted to have an adventure,” Currie said. “I have been working for six years and I was desperate for a break. And Pokémon gave me the chance to live that dream.”

Can’t knock a man for quitting his job to live his childhood dream. He definitely has support from his fans and his own mother that gives him the motivation to achieve his ambitious goal.

From The Guardian, Tom Currie “has been approached by various transport companies, offering to take him to remote parts of the country to hunt for rare Pokémon.”

“Tom is a very spur-of-the-moment, independent kid, he always has been,” said his mother, Tania Dobbs. “His nana and I don’t understand the game but I remember him loving it in his childhood. I am just glad he is out enjoying his life and seeing so much of New Zealand. I back him 100%.”
