We have had a lot of great comic book movies released this year and it looks like we’re in for yet another treat with the upcoming Thor movie. After a lacklustre sequel in Thor: The Dark World, Marvel changed tack and hired cult favourite director Taika Waititi to helm the third installment in the franchise. The first two trailers for Thor: Ragnarok have highlighted a turn into brighter, Guardians-inspired territory, and the new international trailer released today is no different.
Check out the international trailer below:
A major issue that has plagued not just comic book movies but all movies in general over the last few years is a revealing trailer. So many trailers today show too much of the movie, leaving audiences knowing every beat of the story before they walk into the cinema. Spider-Man: Homecoming was guilty of this and Sony in general tends to be the biggest culprit.
With Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel has treaded a fine line. There is a lot of information, a lot of appearances revealed (not least Doctor Strange which the general viewer might not have been aware of), and surely a fair chunk of the major action set pieces. Thankfully the editing still leaves us with enough questions and only a few answers heading into the release of the movie.
We’ve been spoiled with comic book movies lately as the genre has had one of its best years ever in terms of quality. With the superhero movie bubble not bursting as so many expected the expectations are high for Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel will be hoping it can continue the hot streak they are on leading into Black Panther and ultimately Infinity War.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on October 27th 2017.
