It’s no secret that Netflix is investing more into anime content than seemingly any other streaming video company. Now it seems that Netflix is taking it a step further by partnering with some big Japanese anime studios. Companies like Anima, Sublimation and David Production have reportedly signed on with Netflix. Altered Carbon: Resleeved – the animated version of Netflix’s live-action sci-fi series – will be done by Anima. Sublimation will take on Dragon’s Dogma, while David Production will work on SPRIGGAN, which will be based on the manga. Don’t forget that Netflix has made earlier deals with Production I.G. and studio Bones back in 2018.
Production I.G will be spearheading Ghost in a Shell SAC_2045, while studio Bones will be working on Super Crooks. Netflix has also partnered with Wit Studio, the studio behind Attack on Titan, with their original series titled Vampire in the Garden. According to John Dederian, the Netflix director of content, he states that “Netflix aims to be the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators and production studios. We are creating an environment where production houses can do their best work, and deliver their shows on a service where we connect anime fans from over 190 countries to content they love.”
