When backwards compatibility officially launched on the Xbox One, the ability to play games that require multiple discs was a problem that Microsoft came across. The feature has been highly demanded from fans and it looks like Microsoft has finally fixed the problem. Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut is the first multi-disc to become backwards compatible and Microsoft says more are to come.
Microsoft released this statement on the subject:
“Yes, ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut’ was the first multi-disc Backward Compatible title added to the program. We know fans were asking for this feature and our engineers worked hard developing a solution to enable it so we could further expand the titles included in Xbox One Backward Compatibility. We’re continuing to listen to our fans on Xbox Feedback and work with our publishing partners to grow out library of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles and will work to include more multi-disc games.”
Due to the Xbox 360 using DVD discs instead of Blu-Ray discs, many games had to be spread across multiple discs including LA Noire and the second/third Mass Effect games. Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are highly likely to become backwards compatible as the first game in that series already is and EA has been highly supportive of backwards compatibility.
