Mark Hamill to voice Skeletor in Masters of the Universe: Revelation

The fate of the MOTU film may be in question but production for the Netflix exclusive series Masters of the Universe: Revelation is in full swing. Some exciting news about the voice cast for the new series has just been announced and it seems that Mark Hamill will give voice to the archvillain Skeletor. Hamill is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the iconic Star Wars saga. He is also highly regarded for his portrayal of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and in the Arkham series of video games.

Hamill will be joined by other notable actors for Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Kevin Conroy – who gave voice to Batman in the previously mentioned Batman: The Animated Series and Arkham games has been cast for the role of aquatic villain Mer-Man. Heroic warrior maiden Teela will be voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. And then we have the odd casting of Jason Mewes from Jay and Silent Bob. He has been placed in the role of Stinkor.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be a sequel series to the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon which originall aired in the early 1980’s. While you may remember the original series to be rather silly, the new show will have a much more serious tone. This mandate comes from Netflix executive Teddy Biaselli who made a request to writer and director Kevin Smith. “Teddy’s big note and only note was, ‘When I was a kid, I did not realize this was campy. This was so serious to me, please just treat it serious. Treat it like Shakespeare”, said Smith.
