We’ve seen two quick teases over the last number of days for the comic book sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Now a full length trailer has been released online for the follow up to the surprise 2014 hit. Check out the trailer below.
The original Kingsman was based upon the Mark Millar graphic novel of the same name. Other Millar properties have previously been adapted for the screen with mixed results, and so Kingsman was certainly not a sure fire hit. Incredibly directed by Matthew Vaughn (responsible for the other great Millar adaptation Kick-Ass), Kingsman riffed on the James Bond movies of old, managing to be both stylistic and hilarious. In fact, it was more fun than any Bond movie in recent memory. They even made Colin Firth a bad-ass British spy.
That movie grossed $414 million which is certainly not a bad haul, but it means that the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has expectations that are sky high. This time round it seems that Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and the team will be meeting up with their American counterparts: The Statesmen. The trailer doesn’t reveal too much except that it seems the Kingsman HQ has been blown up. In classic sequel-style, Kingsman is going bigger, and the impressive action scenes shown so far certainly coincide with that.
The cast is also much bulkier with Jeff Bridges playing the head of the Statesmen, Agent Champagne, and Halle Berry and Channing Tatum both on board as spies. Julianne Moore is seen briefly in the trailer and she takes up the villain duties this time round, following on from Samuel L. Jackson’s McDonald’s-loving Richmond Valentine in the original.
Even though a previous poster had already revealed it, it’s still a shock that Colin Firth’s Harry was in the trailer. And amazingly, Elton John will also apparently appear in the movie! Who saw that coming?!
Kingsman: The Golden Circle will hit theatres on September 22nd 2017.
