Joker has opened with a record breaking first weekend. With $93.5 million this weekend the movie now has the largest domestic opening in October. Joker didn’t really have any other competition this weekend. Abominable and Downtown Abbey failed to gross more than $20 million together.
Joker now sits at $234 million worldwide after a busy weekend. Downtown Abbey sits at $135 million worldwide as it does nothing but make money. This movie ruined my chance to watch Joker in my hometown. Most people in my area for some reason decided they wanted to watch Downtown Abbey.

Next weekend three movies will be releasing. I really doubt these movies will be able to take over the top spot. Jexi, Gemini Man, and The Addams Family all come out. The following weekend does have some great movies coming out. Between Zombieland 2 and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil the box office will have some great competition.
